Victor Fidelis Sentosa

Victor Fidelis Sentosa is an independent photojournalist and visual storyteller from West Kalimantan, Indonesia. His work focuses on socio-cultural issues, wildlife, economics, and politics with particular attention to the lives of Indigenous communities, ecological crises, power imbalances, and threats to Indigenous peoples’ living spaces and cultural heritage.

Through the power of visual, Victor believes photography can serve as a medium to articulate truth and advocate for justice for marginalized groups especially those affected by dominant power structures that suppress collective identities and erode spiritual spaces.

His work has been published and exhibited both nationally and internationally through platforms such as National Geographic Indonesia, BBC Global News, Mongabay USA, and Project Multatuli. He has also participated in several significant exhibitions, including Citra Khatulistiwa at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Sound Source: Everything is Music! at the Weltkulturen Museum in Germany, and Kayuh Baimbai in East Kalimantan.

Through collaborations with journalistic media, civil society organizations, academics, conservation institutions, art communities, and indigenous community, Victor consistently employs visual storytelling to document, explore, and interpret the relationship between humans and nature. This approach is grounded in a cosmological perspective, framing visual practice as a form of existence, knowledge, and self-reflection.
